We finally made it to Avra Dallas, the newest addition from the iconic Greek restaurant group that began in New York and now has homes in Beverly Hills, Miami, and most recently here in the Crescent. It feels like a slice of the Mediterranean has arrived in the middle of Dallas, complete with a warm welcome, coastal elegance, and that unmistakable Avra energy that manages to be both refined and easygoing.

The evening started with warm pita and creamy hummus, which arrives at every table, served with their own Avra olive oil. It is rich, smooth, and absolutely addictive. For cocktails, Thomas ordered the Mykonos Sunrise with Stoli, velvet falernum, passionfruit, and lemon. The menu calls it “the island for nonstop party,” and it tasted exactly like that. Scott chose the Fig and Flowers, made with Belvedere, black fig infusion, jasmine verde, saline, and marigold. The boys ordered lemonade and a Greek Sunrise mocktail with lime, orange, pineapple, soda, and grenadine, which looked just as pretty as the grown-up versions.

Before dinner, we visited the fish display, where all the fresh catches are presented on ice. Everything is flown in frequently, and the staff helps you select your fish right there. It feels part tradition and part show, and it adds such a special touch to the evening.
We started with a Greek salad topped with barrel-aged Arahova feta that was creamy, briny, and easily one of the best we have had. The saganaki, lightly fried Kefalograviera cheese with lemon and oregano, was crisp on the outside and perfectly melty inside. We also shared the yellowtail jalapeño sashimi with ponzu and soy sauce, which added a bright and refreshing contrast to the richness of the cheese.

For the main course, we went family style. The Chilean sea bass, baked overnight in a tomato fish broth with herbs, onions, and potatoes, was delicate and comforting. The Colorado lamb chops, double cut and simply grilled, were tender and full of flavor. The grilled langoustines from the fresh display might have been the highlight, buttery and sweet with just the right amount of char. And because it is us, there were truffle fries, which Thomas declared the best in Dallas.
We finished dinner with two desserts that were truly unforgettable. The 16 layer chocolate cake was rich but somehow light at the same time, and the walnut baklava served warm with house-made vanilla ice cream was the perfect ending.
Scott had been to Avra New York during a recent work trip and said this Dallas location captures the same essence but with a Texas ease. The space is beautiful, the service is warm, and it already feels like one of those places that will become a go-to for celebrations or for any night that calls for something special.

Avra brings something new to Dallas, combining the flavors of Greece with the polish of New York and the easy hospitality that makes it feel like home.
