Dallas has never exactly struggled when it comes to chicken restaurants, so opening another one comes with a certain level of confidence.
Flock & Fresh, the new concept from the CEO of Smoothie King and the team behind Nuri Steakhouse, leans into a more polished fast casual experience built around made-to-order grilled or crispy chicken tenders, chicken sandwiches, fresh salads, and a strong lineup of housemade sauces.
The menu feels intentionally focused. Not oversized. Not trying to do too much. Just good chicken with enough variety to make repeat visits easy.
The boys ordered the chicken tenders with housemade chips and kale salad while we went for the sandwiches, adding chips for one side and kale salad for the other. The sauce selection is where the menu becomes particularly fun. Curry ranch, Sweet Korean, cajun buffalo, BBQ. Enough variety that the table immediately turned into everyone comparing favorites.
Drink-wise, the Desert Pear Lemonade ended up being the standout with the kids, while the Hibiscus Passion Fruit Iced Tea felt refreshing without being overly sweet, which is usually where these kinds of drinks lose us.
What Flock & Fresh does particularly well is balancing convenience with quality. The chicken is raised without hormones or antibiotics, everything is cooked to order, and the overall experience feels a step above the standard fast food chicken formula without losing the ease people actually want from a casual lunch or family dinner spot.
The restaurant itself also deserves credit. Bright interior, large patio, playful details throughout, and seating that feels comfortable rather than overly designed. It manages to feel modern and family friendly without becoming chaotic or overly polished.
They also offer catering, which makes complete sense for the concept. Office lunches, sports weekends, casual gatherings. This feels like the kind of menu that works for groups without becoming complicated.
Dallas already has plenty of competition in the chicken category, but Flock & Fresh arrives with a very clear identity: quick, fresh, customizable, and easy to come back to.
For us, that usually matters more than hype.
